January

Not much happened in January. My mailbox is empty and sad. But I got new stamps:)

Now I just need letters to have where to stick them!
It was my Birthday in January. From my dad I got a scanner+printer+xero. I will be able to scan my letters before sending them now. I'm so glad because so many of my letters got lost last year. I had to write them all from beginning. Which is fine for me but not if it happens again and again. I started to get frustrated and wished for scanner so I would just re-send same letter. What do you do when your letters get lost? Do you have copies of them somewhere or you write totally new one?

My friends brought me these envelopes from their trip to Berlin. Nice, huh?:)

I started this project from new year. I saw it in Bubbles blog (who saw it in someone else's blog I think:P). Anyway, I thought it would be perfect thing to do for me. Last year wasn't very good to me and January seemed no better. I write down all good things that happen to me and put them in this jar. It turns out it's getting filled so maybe January wasn't really that bad:) In the end of the year I will open it and read all the happy sheets of paper from the inside and even if (though I hope otherwise:)) I will think my year was bad, I will know there was some happiness in it too:)

A postcard from... Visakhapatnam, India

Namaste!:) This is my first postcard from India. I got it from Amit. It shows Buddhist site near Visakhapatnam, a city in the east coast of India.

And look how interesting stamps. This is traditional Indian texture called Banaras Silk (unfortunatelly the stamps are not made of it:P how cool would it be if they were, huh?;)) At first I read the name wrong - Bananas Silk and I was wondering if it's some special silk made of bananas, silly me, haha.

Religious stamps

Whenever I choose stamps in Polish post office online shop, I am amazed with the amount of religious stamps they offer. There are stamps with pope, stamps with priests, stamps with saints, stamps with Maria icons... Look just how many Maria's there are! I am not religious however I do like some of them, those quirky looking ones... Still, the number of them is quite shoking, isn't it? Do you have religious stamps in your country?

Fragnant stamps

These stamps show the European Bison. It is considered our national animal. The European Bison is the biggest mammal living in the wild in Europe. It was almost extinct. After the 1st World War only several dozen of them survived and only in the zoos. In 1923 Poland went out with the initiative to restore the species. All living nowadays European Bisons originate only from 12 individuals. The biggest number of European Bisons live of course in Poland.

Now about the stamps. What is special about them - when you rub them they smell of forest:) They were issued in 2011 and this year they won International Awards for Philatelic Art.

Round stamps

As you know, this year Poland together with Ukraine was organizing European Football Championships. On this occasion Polish post office issued stamps and I of course bought them :D

I really like those round ones with a ball and flags of both countries:)

There are also stamps with the stadiums in Gdańsk, Poznań, Warsaw and Wrocław.

I actually wish there were more stamps in shapes other than square:P
Do you have some non square stamps in your country?

Birthday stationery + more stamps

It was my Birthday this month and I generally don't show the gifts I get but I decided to make exception this time because I was really amazed with this marvelous stationery set! The paper is thick, smooth and shiny which unfortunatelly is not visible in the photo. It's really professional stationery set... which my dear amiga Sharonita designed and made for me by herself!

She hopes I will use but it's so beautiful that I am afraid I will have blockade to spoil it with my handwriting and what's worse - part with it! O.O
Maybe I'll just affix it with 'Look but don't touch' warning and leave it for myself :P

Also, although I'm not yet out of stamps, I ordered new ones because most of the ones I've had  were of the inconvinient value and all of the same. I needed bigger variety to match the needed prices of letters and here's what I got :D I could spend hours on philatelic shop's site *w*
