A postcard from... Visakhapatnam, India

Namaste!:) This is my first postcard from India. I got it from Amit. It shows Buddhist site near Visakhapatnam, a city in the east coast of India.

And look how interesting stamps. This is traditional Indian texture called Banaras Silk (unfortunatelly the stamps are not made of it:P how cool would it be if they were, huh?;)) At first I read the name wrong - Bananas Silk and I was wondering if it's some special silk made of bananas, silly me, haha.

I looked around my postcard collection and I found this one. I got it 12 years ago from my school mates. It shows a pilgrimage to the most holy city in Poland - Częstochowa. It takes place once a year in summer.

A postcard from... Fukuoka, Japan

This pretty picture is the summer in Fukuoka but according to the sweet sender, winter there is lovely too. I find this postcard very peaceful and wish I could see this place in any season.

According to wikipedia, Fukuoka is the 7th largest city in Japan. It is located in the Kiushu island and it's the closest city to China and Korea. Fukuoka is praised for its green spaces in a metropolitan setting... I guess the postcard shows that well:)

A postcard from... Montreal, Canada

I think this was the first postcard that I got this year. It was sent to me by Crystal from The House of Hearts (click to check her blog;)). It shows Canadian Ecowatch Center that is located on an island off the island of Montreal. Inside are the gardens of different parts of the world and according to Crystal the place is magical and I believe her:)

Got that swing

Some time ago I suggested that the crafty Bubbles could make swing theme card. I screamed

when she made it but didn't really think I will be the one to get the card since I was the one who suggested the theme and I am the one who has swing in the 'name'=) It would be too much of a coincidence but coincidences happen in life and I won:D Yay! So I now got that swing to hang in my room;)

I got this postcard when I was 16 years old. I met a girl who sent it a year earlier, also in England, on a language course but the next year I couldn't go. I kept the postcard and a friend too;)

I got this postcard not recently, but some time ago from my Mexican friend. It shows UNAM - the National Autonomous University of Mexico and one of the most awsome buildings that I've seen - UNAM library! Isn't it fantastic?=D

A postcard from... Edinburgh, Great Britain

In the meantime when I was in Prague, my friend went to Edinburgh and she sent me this beautiful postcard with a view of Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town:) I love the pinkish violet colors:)

In the meantime when I work, with no perspective of vacation, with rain outide the window I got this postcard from a friend who went for vacation with her fiancee to Thailand. Pretty depressing, huh?;P No, seriously, I'm happy for the postcard:) My time will come one day too:)

A postcard from... Apostole Islands, Wisconsin, USA

 

This pretty card I got long time ago from one of my lovely penpals. It shows Apostle Islands over Lake Superior in the state of Wisconsin. There are 21 islands and together with 12 miles of mainland they form Apostole Islands National Lakeshore, distinguished by unique wilderness. The islands are also called the Jewels of Lake Superior.

There was no mail for me this week, only or as much as this postcard. I love the view. It's from Salta, a region in North West of Argentina. My penpal went there for a week and thought of me:) I love when my friends travel :D

Folk cards

I am being lazy with writing new posts lately, this time as well, so I'll just show a photo of my attempt to being creative:) Some time ago my mum brought me from one of her short trips through our beautiful country a card with typical Polish folk pattern. I absolutely loved the card and wanted to share it with my penpals. Unfortunatelly, there was only one, so I decided to make some myself. The original card was much more professional with perfect details, but these two have a piece of my heart;)
