The traditional music of Poland is very diverse depending on a region. I decided to choose some folk music from three regions as my Tuesday (or in my case Wednesday) entry. First is a folk group from the region where I live - Masovia in the original Masovian folk clothes. The dresses of women weigh 14 kg!
The second is a folk group form Silesia region, also in their folk clothes. The song title is "A girl went to the woods" and I've read it's also very known in Japan! O.o
And last but not least is a group from Highland region, in the South of Poland, also in their traditional clothes. You still can meet people wearing these in there, probably mostly for touristic reasons, but I also have a feeling they value their folk culture more.
Thanks so much for sharing as I really enjoyed listening but also watching these clicks. I absolutely love the dress styles/traditions and do find it a shame that many countries have turned to trousers, jeans, skirts etc... but I can also understand why as the traditional clothes no longer fit in to every day life especially those that weigh 14 kg... phew! With my traditional clothes they are light and easy to move around in so suit me more then English clothes as I find them so restrictive and uncomforable to move now but as a child I preferred it more as I could get up to mischief much easily :P
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for sharing! I love East European folklore ^^ Those styles are very different and the costumes are splendid ^^ I made hubby listen to the second song and he said he knows it from somewhere, then he read that it came to Japan with the communist movement ^.^
